La ley del SEÑOR es perfecta, que restaura el alma; el testimonio del SEÑOR es seguro, que hace sabio al sencillo.  (Sal 19:7)

La gracia es el elemento central de nuestra fe.   Una prueba buena de si las enseñanzas de alguien son correctas o no es averiguar qué cree alrededor del sujeto de la gracia.  La gracia no solo es el camino hacia la vida pero es nuestra manera de vivir también.  Y entonces…¿Qué debemos hacer con la ley?  El Espíritu Santo inspiró a David de escribir que la ley es perfecta y restaura el alma.  Podemos traducir la palabra “restaura” como “convierte” también y entonces podemos decir verdaderamente que la ley convierte el alma.  No es importante si hablamos de la ley de Moisés o de la ley natural de que habla Pablo en el libro a los Romanos, ambas son dado por Dios y ambas son perfectas.

La ley nunca intentó Dios a ser enemigo de la gracia pero más bien la intentó de servir como señal para guiarnos a la gracia.  Como una profesora, la ley nos instruye que no podemos responder a las expectativas de Dios.  La ley existe para mostrar el pecado pero no para quitarlo.  La ley verdaderamente convierte el alma como dice David porque bajo la ley nos damos cuenta de que “todos pecaron y no alcanzan la gloria de Dios” (Rom 3:23) Después de venir a esta conclusión nos estamos dirigidos a la gracia de Dios por Cristo Jesus donde aprendemos que “la paga del pecado es muerte, pero la dádiva de Dios es vida eterna en Cristo Jesús Señor nuestro.” (Rom 6:23)

Pero la cosa no termina allá.  Dios con su amor infinito nos quiere bendecir aun más.  Después de recibir la salvación que el Señor nos ofrece por gracia a través de la fe, Dios nos da el Espíritu Santo quien es el testimonio y el testigo de la victoria que Cristo Jesus ha tenido sobre la muerte y el pecado.  A través de la persona del Espíritu Santo nosotros, siendo sencillos, nos hace sabios acerca de las cosas del Dios.  Dios te ama y se ha sacrificado para ti;  Permite que la ley de Dios convierta tu alma y recibe el testimonio de su gracia hoy en día.
 
“Mas él da mayor gracia. Por esto dice: Dios resiste á los soberbios, y da gracia á los humildes. Someteos pues á Dios; resistid al diablo, y de vosotros huirá.” (San 4:6-7)

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple (Psa 19:7)

Grace is the core element of our faith and a good measure of whether someone’s teaching is solid or not is to see where they stand on the subject of grace.  Grace is not just the way to life but it the way of life as well.  So…what about the law?  David was inspired by the Holy Spirit to say that the law is perfect, converting the souls - and it is.  Whether we are speaking about the Mosaic law or the natural law that Paul talks about in Romans, both are given by God and both are perfect. 

The law was never supposed to be the enemy of grace but rather it was meant to be the signpost that pointed the way to grace.  The law instructs us as a teacher would that we cannot meet God’s minimum requirements for acceptance into heaven.  The law exists to reveal sin and to not remove sin.  The law does convert the soul as David says because under the law we realize that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Rom 3:23).  After we come to this conclusion we are directed to the grace of God through Jesus Christ where we learn that “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom 6:23)

But the story does not end there.  God in His infinite love wants to bless us even more.  The word “testimony” can also be translated “witness” in the second part of this verse.  After we accept the salvation that the Lord offers us by grace through faith He gives us the Holy Spirit who is the testimony and witness of the victory Jesus has had over death and sin.  Through the person of the Holy Spirit we, being simple, are made wise concerning the things of God.  God loves you and has given himself for you; let the law of the Lord convert your soul and receive the testimony of His grace today.

“But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “GOD RESISTS THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.” Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (Jas 4:6-7)

Great deliverance He gives to His king, and shows mercy to His anointed, To David and his descendants forevermore.  (Psa 18:50)

What is the source of our blessing?  How is it that we are the beneficiaries of such a great salvation?  Whenever we have these types of questions it is best to avoid empty philosophizing and remember the one who said “It is finished“.    Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith and is the source of all of the blessings that we have received.  The Bible says that “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” (Joh 1:3)  The very existence of matter is a gift from our Lord.  The Bible declares that He is “the author and finisher of our faith” (Heb 12:2a) Without Him there is no opportunity for faith or salvation.  And again the Bible declares “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.” (Joh 15:26)  The guaranty of our redemption and the power that God supplies to us as believers comes through the Holy Spirit whom Jesus has sent to us.

Jesus is clearly the source of our blessing and so why are we beneficiaries of this great salvation?  As believers we are not just redeemed but we have been made children and heirs in God’s family.  Jesus is not just our Lord but He is now our brother and as He is a descendent of David so are we.  God’s promises are amazing and sure.  Promises he made to men many thousands of years ago he continues to keep, blessing us, His people, in ways that exceed even our wildest dreams. 

If you are downcast today, lift your eyes to Him.  Give Him your troubles, knowing that He wants to lift your burdens from you and give you “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding” (Php 4:7a)

Por tanto, te alabaré, oh SEÑOR, entre las naciones, y cantaré alabanzas a tu nombre. Grandes victorias da El a su rey, y muestra misericordia a su ungido, a David y a su descendencia para siempre.  (Sal 18:49-50)

¿De donde vienen las bendiciones que experimentamos?  ¿Cómo es que nos beneficiamos de esta salvación tan grande?  Cuando tengamos este tipo de pregunta sea mejor evitar filosofando vacíamente  y recordarnos de Él que dijo “Consumado es“.  Jesus es el autor u consumador de nuestra fe y es la fuente de todas las bendiciones que hemos recibido.  La Biblia dice que “Todas las cosas fueron hechas por medio de Él, y sin El nada de lo que ha sido hecho, fue hecho.” (Jua 1:3)  Aun la existencia de la materia del universo es un regalo de nuestro Señor.  La Biblia declara que El es “el autor y consumador de la fe” (Heb 12:2a) Sin El no hay oportunidad para fe ni salvación.  Y otra vez la Biblia declara “Cuando venga el Consolador, a quien yo enviaré del Padre, es decir, el Espíritu de verdad que procede del Padre, El dará testimonio de mí” (Jua 15:26)  La garantía de nuestra redención y el poder con que Dios nos suministra viene por el Espíritu Santo quien Jesus nos ha enviado.

Claramente, Jesus es la fuente de nuestras bendiciones y entonces porque somos beneficiarios de esta salvación tan inmensa.  Como creyentes no solo somos redimidos pero también nos hemos convertidos en hijos y herederos en la familia de Dios.  Jesus no es solo nuestro Señor pero ahora se ha hecho nuestro hermano y como El es descendiente de David somos también.  Las promesas de Dios son impresionantes y fieles.  Las promesas que El ha dado a hombres hace muchos miles de años todavía guarda fielmente, bendiciéndonos en maneras mas allá de lo que podemos creer.

Si estés abatido hoy, levanta tus ojos a Él.  Dale tus problemas, entendiendo que Él quiere aguantar tu carga y date “la paz de Dios, que sobrepasa todo entendimiento” (Fil 4:7)

El SEÑOR vive, bendita sea mi roca, y ensalzado sea el Dios de mi salvación (Sal 18:46)

Nuestro Dios es una roca, un cimiento firme en que podemos edificar.  Pablo nos dice que “Pues nadie puede poner otro fundamento que el que ya está puesto, el cual es Jesucristo.” (1Co 3:11) Es verdad que estamos llamados a edificar sobre este fundamento con nuestras buenas obras. “Ahora bien, si sobre este fundamento alguno edifica con oro, plata, piedras preciosas, madera, heno, paja, la obra de cada uno se hará evidente; porque el día la dará a conocer, pues con fuego será revelada; el fuego mismo probará la calidad de la obra de cada uno.” (1Co 3:12-13)

Nuestros problemas empiezan cuando tratemos de establecer doctrina cualquiera fuera del fundamento que ha establecido Jesus en la cruz.  Cuando agreguemos requisitos al Evangelio de gracia ponemos en duda nuestra misma fe.  ¿Si Cristo llevo todos los pecados del mundo cuando murió que mas podemos agregar?  Si demando que seas bautizado en mi iglesia o insisto que hables en lenguas como evidencia de su salvación entonces te pongo una carga que Jesus no quiere que sobrelleves.  Reglas como estas son peligrosamente legalistas y debemos evitarlas mientras que compartimos el Evangelio.

¿Tienes amor para los que ministras?  Si no, pídale a Dios quien te dará el amor que necesites.  Da la Palabra a los que Dios te ha llevado y El transformara sus vidas.  Necesitamos dejar de ser dinámicos y poderosos por nuestros meritos propios.  Volvámonos sin vergüenza a la simplicidad del Evangelio de gracia; devolvamos el control al El otra vez.

“Porque no me avergüenzo del evangelio, pues es el poder de Dios para la salvación de todo el que cree; del judío primeramente y también del griego.” (Rom 1:16)

The LORD lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let the God of my salvation be exalted. (Psa 18:46)

Our God is a rock, the very firm foundation for us to build on.  Paul tells us that “no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1Co 3:11) It is true that we are called to build on that foundation with our good works. “Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.” (1Co 3:12-13)

Our problems begin when we look to establish any doctrine outside of the firm foundation of Christ’s work on the cross.  When we begin to add things to the Gospel of grace we put our very faith in question.  If Christ took all of the sins of the world on his shoulders when He died then what more can we add to His work?  If I begin to tell people that they have to be baptized at my church or if I tell them that they must speak in tongues as an evidence of their salvation then I am laying a burden on those poor souls that Christ did not.  Requirements like this are dangerously legalistic and we should take care that we do not fall into that same trap as we spread the Gospel. 

Do you have love for those that you minister to?  If you do not, ask God who will provide you with that love you require.  Give to those that God has brought you the Word and He will transform their lives.  We need to stop trying to be dynamic and effective in our own rights.  Let’s all return unashamed to the simplicity of the Gospel of grace; let’s give Him control again.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.” (Rom 1:16)

For You will light my lamp; The LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. (Psa 18:28)

We do not begin to really live life the way God intended until we are born again.  Life before Christ is like trying to walk to work in total darkness.  The path is full of unseen dangers and it is certain that you will get lost and not arrive at your destination.  But we do not need to walk in darkness because God has lit our lamps. “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light. See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (Eph 5:14-16)

Do you desire to do the will of the Lord today but lack the wisdom to walk circumspectly?  I don’t know about all of you but I certainly lack that wisdom; but God doesn’t.  “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” (Jas 1:5) Be encouraged today all you saints of the Lord.  The Lord will light your lamps and give you the wisdom you seek.  “If you seek Him, He will be found by you“.

Tú enciendes mi lámpara, oh SEÑOR; mi Dios que alumbra mis tinieblas. (Sal 18:28)

Hasta el momento en que nacimos de nuevo no comenzamos a vivir realmente la vida.  La vida antes de conocer a Cristo es como tratar de caminar al trabajo en la oscuridad total.  El camino seria lleno de peligro desconocido y es cierto que te perderías y no llegarías a tu destino.  Pero no necesitamos caminar en las tinieblas porque Dios ha alumbrado nuestras lámparas.  “Despierta, tú que duermes, y levántate de entre los muertos, y te alumbrará Cristo. Por tanto, tened cuidado cómo andáis; no como insensatos, sino como sabios, aprovechando bien el tiempo, porque los días son malos.” (Efe 5:14-16)

¿Deseas hacer la voluntad de Dios hoy pero faltas la sabiduría de andar circunspectamente?  Es cierto que yo falto la sabiduría de hacerlo;  pero Dios no la falta.  “Pero si alguno de vosotros se ve falto de sabiduría, que la pida a Dios, el cual da a todos abundantemente y sin reproche, y le será dada.” (San 1:5)  Que sean animados hoy.  Dios va a encender sus lámparas y va a darles la sabiduría que buscan. “Si le buscas, El te dejará encontrarle”
